Difficulty speaking
Causes of sialadenitis include:
Bacterial infections
Viruses
Chemicals

Treatment for sialadenitis depends on the underlying cause. If the cause is a bacterial or viral infection, antibiotics or antiviral medications will be prescribed. If the cause is caused by a chemical or radiation exposure, treatment may involve washing the mouth with a saline solution.
Prognosis for sialadenitis depends on the underlying cause. If the cause is treated promptly, the prognosis is good. However, if the cause is untreated, the prognosis can be serious and even fatal
