A quadrilateral is a polygon with four sides and four angles. It is a two-dimensional shape that can be formed by connecting four points in a specific order.
To construct a quadrilateral, you can follow these steps:
Choose two points. Pick any two points in the plane.
Connect them. Draw a line segment between the two points.
Repeat step 2. Continue drawing lines segmenting the line segment you just drew until you have four points.
Connect the end points. Draw lines segmenting each line segment you just drew until you have four points.
Draw the lines. Connect the end points of the line segments to form the quadrilateral.
Here's an example:
Let's say we choose points A(1, 3) and B(5, 7).
Connecting these points, we get a line segment AB.
We then repeat this process by drawing lines segmenting AB and connecting the end points to form the quadrilateral ABC.
Similarly, connecting the endpoints of the other two line segments to form the quadrilateral EDC, we get the quadrilateral DEF.
These two quadrilaterals are congruent, meaning they have the same shape and size.
