The past tense of a verb is used to talk about actions or events that happened in the past. It is formed by adding -ed to the base verb.
Example: Run -> Ran, Walk -> Walked, Eat -> ate
Other words that change their tenses by adding -ed:
Go -> went
Come -> came
See -> saw
Hear -> heard
Leave -> left
Begin -> began
When should we use the past tense?
We use the past tense to talk about actions or events that happened in the past. This includes actions that were completed, happened repeatedly, or happened in a specific order.
Examples:
