Modals are special adverbs used to express obligation, possibility, or necessity. They appear before a verb and modify its meaning.
Must:
We must be careful while walking in the forest.
The teacher must be present for the meeting.
Ought to:
We ought to be more careful about our belongings.
The child ought to be able to read by the age of five.
Examples:
Must: We must finish the homework before the deadline.
Ought to: We ought to be more responsible in our studies.
Additional Points:
Modals can be used to express a strong obligation.
They can also be used to express a possibility or a certainty.
Some verbs do not require modals, such as "know" and "see".
