Proportion: Direct and Inverse relationship logic
Proportion is a mathematical relationship between two quantities where the ratio of the two quantities is equal. For example, if the ratio of the lengths of two objects is 2:3, then the length of the longer object is twice the length of the shorter object.
Direct proportion:
If a:b = c:d, then we can conclude that a = b/c = d/b. This means that if we know the lengths of two objects in direct proportion, we can find the lengths of the corresponding objects in the same ratio.
Inverse proportion:
If a:b = c:d, then we can also conclude that b:a = d:c. This means that if we know the lengths of two objects in inverse proportion, we can find the lengths of the corresponding objects in the same ratio
