Voluntary/Discretionary Benefits
Voluntary benefits are those that employees choose to participate in, such as flexible work arrangements, paid time off, or health insurance. Discretionary benefits, on the other hand, are those that employees are entitled to but do not choose to participate in, such as retirement plans or paid parental leave.
Voluntary benefits can be categorized into two main types:
Employee-driven benefits: These are benefits that are initiated and funded by the employee, such as flexible work arrangements or paid time off.
Company-sponsored benefits: These are benefits that are offered by the company, such as health insurance, retirement plans, and paid parental leave.
Both voluntary and discretionary benefits can be used to reward and motivate employees, leading to increased employee satisfaction and retention
