Vachya (voice) is a grammatical category that shows how a verb is used to express the agent or patient of an action.
There are three voices in Hindi:
Kartruvachya (active voice)
Karmavachya (passive voice)
Bhavavachya (neutral voice)
The active voice is used when the subject performs the action. For example, when I read a book, the agent is I.
The passive voice is used when the action is done to the subject. For example, when the book is read to me, the agent is the book.
The neutral voice is used when the agent and patient are the same person. For example, when I look in the mirror, the agent and patient are the same person, myself.
Remember:
The subject is the person or thing that performs the action.
The verb is the action being performed.
The object is the person or thing that receives the action.
Examples:
Active voice: He writes a letter.
Passive voice: The letter is written by him.
Neutral voice: The book is read by me
