Barometer (Simple and Fortin's)
A barometer is a device used to measure atmospheric pressure. It is a glass tube with a constriction at one end and an opening at the other end. When the air pressure is higher, the constriction in the tube will be smaller, allowing more air to pass through. Conversely, when the air pressure is lower, the constriction will be larger, restricting airflow.
Barometers are typically used in weather forecasts, air traffic control, and scientific research. They are also used to measure the atmospheric pressure of the interior of buildings.
Fortin's Barometer
Fortin's barometer is an improved design of the simple barometer. It has a wider constriction at the opening, allowing for more accurate readings. This design was developed by the physicist and astronomer Pierre Fortin in the 19th century.
Fortin's barometer is often used in high-precision applications, such as weather forecasting and scientific research
