Chemical changes involve changes in the chemical composition of a substance. Examples include burning wood, rusting iron, and baking soda and vinegar. Chemical changes break or form new chemical bonds, resulting in the formation of new substances.
Types of Chemical Reactions
There are two main types of chemical reactions:
Combination reactions: Two or more substances combine to form a new substance. For example, when hydrogen and oxygen react, they form water.
