Steps in Urine Formation:
Filtration: Blood enters the renal corpuscle of the kidneys, which is a filter-like structure. The glomerular capillaries present in the renal corpuscle allow for the selective filtration of substances from the blood, including urea, creatinine, water, electrolytes (sodium, potassium, chloride), and drugs. These substances are then transported by the renal tubule into the renal tubule.
Reabsorption: Once the filtered substances are trapped in the renal tubule, they are reabsorbed back into the bloodstream through the renal tubule active transport. This reabsorption process helps to maintain the body's water and electrolyte balance, preventing excessive loss of fluids and nutrients.
Excretion: The filtered substances that were initially filtered from the blood and reabsorbed back into the bloodstream are eventually eliminated from the body through urine. The urine is collected from the kidneys and transported to the bladder for storage until it is eliminated from the body through defecation.
