Oxidation
Oxidation is a process in which a substance loses electrons and becomes oxidized. This process is commonly observed when a metal is exposed to oxygen or another oxidizing agent. As the metal loses electrons, it becomes positively charged, while the oxidizing agent becomes negatively charged. This process can occur both in solid and in liquid states.
Examples:
When iron is exposed to oxygen, it oxidizes to form iron oxide (Fe3O4).
When copper is exposed to hydrogen peroxide, it oxidizes to form copper(II) oxide (CuO).
When aluminum is exposed to sulfur, it oxidizes to form aluminum sulfide (Al2S3)
