What is the Relationship Between Number Sets?
The relationship between number sets can be described in different ways, depending on the context. Two sets are said to be equal if they contain the same numbers. For example, the number sets {1, 3, 5, 7} and {3, 5, 7, 1} are equal.
Different Ways to Describe the Relationship Between Number Sets:
Union: The union of two sets is a set of all numbers in either set. In our example, the union of {1, 3, 5, 7} and {3, 5, 7, 1} is {1, 3, 5, 7}.
Intersection: The intersection of two sets is a set of numbers that are common to both sets. In our example, the intersection of {1, 3, 5, 7} and {3, 5, 7, 1} is the set {3}.
Complement: The complement of a set is a set of all numbers that are not in the original set. In our example, the complement of the set {1, 3, 5, 7} is {4, 6, 8}.
Examples:
Set A = {1, 3, 5, 7} and Set B = {2, 4, 6, 8} are equal because they contain the same numbers.
Set A = {1, 2, 3, 4, 5} and Set B = {3, 4, 5, 6, 7} are not equal because they contain different numbers.
The complement of the set {1, 3, 5, 7} is the set {4, 6, 8}.
