What is Divisibility?
Divisibility is when a number can be divided by another number without leaving a remainder. For example, 12 is divisible by 3 because 3 evenly divides 12. However, 15 is not divisible by 3 because 3 leaves a remainder when divided by 3.
What is the Units digit?
The units digit is the last digit of a number when written in standard form (like 123). It is often used to determine the place value of the number. For example, in the number 123, the units digit is 3, which is in the thousands place.
How are these concepts used in percentages?
Percent is a part of a whole expressed as a ratio of two numbers. For example, 50% means 50 out of 100. Divisibility by 5 is related to the place value of the units digit. If a number is divisible by 5 and the units digit is 5, it will contribute 5 to the percentage.
Examples:
12 is divisible by 3, but not by 4.
15 is not divisible by 3.
24 is divisible by 3 and the units digit is 4, meaning it contributes 4 to the percentage.
60 is divisible by 5, but the units digit is not 5, so it does not contribute to the percentage
